365 Project Day 274: Melancholy Moon

I See the Moon

Canon 5D Mark ll, 50 1.2L, 1.2 aperture, 1/50, 320 ISO

How I loved the colors tonight as the sun made her bed on the horizon, allowing the moon to shine. The scene seemed to depict how I was feeling inside. I haven’t been able to shake it all day. I am such a homebody at heart, even though I boast about desiring far away adventures. Tomorrow I will get on an airplane and fly away from here, and from my husband, who is my home.

It will be an amazing trip, I feel sure. I have the opportunity to photograph on location at Grace College in Indiana.  I was fortunate enough to do this last year as well. The college is wonderful, but more than that, the people I get to work with are some of my favorite people on earth. I wish they all lived closer to me. They are fun and creative, Christ-followers, and oh-so-wonderful. It will three full days of shooting non-stop as the talented Kevin Sterner of Brand Poet leads us into a plethora of creative challenges.  The last time I went I got to walk in a river while wearing waders as I photographed one of the biology professors. This year, I hear there is a helicopter involved. I am truly blessed to be part of this!

But for tonight, my heart mourns the impending separation from all that is home, and the moon agrees with me.  I am comforted by the deep blues and purples of the night sky, and the moon that hangs like a teardrop above the trees. It is as if the Father is putting His arm around me saying, ” I know. I am here.”
