365 Project Day 263: Wonder

Below the Surface

Canon 5D Mark ll, 100 2.8 macro, 7.1 aperture, 1/160 shutter, 200 ISO,  580 EX speedlight to camera right set on manual at 1/32 second.

wonder |ˈwəndər|noun  “a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by somethingbeautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable “.

I pour sparkling water into a bowl that cradles three magenta chrysanthemums, and I am filled with wonder. I breathe it in as a million tiny bubbles cling to the edges of fragile petals, piling up on the green stems, crowding each other until they release, one by one, to the surface. I will never tire of these glimpses of glory, these pockets of joy that God has sewn into the moments of my everyday life. I continue to be surprised by them, even though I find them daily. Tonight I am grateful for the simplicity of this gift, and the wonder it instills. May I never get over the wonder.

Psalm 65:8 ~”The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.”
