I was so happy to go to the campus of Oglethorpe University to take Annie’s college graduation portraits. She was a vision in red. It seems like yesterday that we walked onto the campus for the first time during her junior year in high school (which was home school) to interview for a math class. She looked so comfortable walking into the stately admissions office, like she had been there all of her life. Annie has always exuded a sense of confidence. It is one of my favorite things about her. She took that class and soon applied to attend the University for her freshman year. Even though the school is just an hour away, I cried all the way home after leaving her in her first dorm in the fall of 2008. She looked so small leaning over the balcony to wave goodbye. I couldn’t believe she was growing up. These moments are what we moms work for, pray for, and then dread when they finally come. Chris and Johnny had to endure it all the way home. Even the lady in the car next to us at a stop light looked over at me with compassion. I am such a mom.
Four years later, I have to say I am very pleased with her college experience at Oglethorpe. She has made friendships that I feel sure will last her a lifetime. She was blessed with amazing roommates from the very beginning, an answer to both of our prayers. I can’t imagine better girls for her to have shared her college journey with. Beth, Clair, and Bianca have been so wonderful. Annie also had the amazing privilege of studying abroad at Oxford University last semester, as well as rowing crew for New College there. I got to go and see that in person. I will never forget that gift. It is priceless to me. (I got some amazing photos while I was there too.)
I am so very proud of her, not for just what she has accomplished in her studies, but for who she is. She is a person of character and compassion. She loves her family and friends and is deeply loyal. She is funny and can make me laugh with the movement of a single eyebrow. She brings joy and light everywhere she goes. She is my Annie. Our Annie. These are the things all mothers pray about for their children, and I am grateful for the beautiful woman she has become.
Congratulations, Annie. We are so very proud of you.

Congratulations to her! She is a beautiful woman, and her beautiful spirit also shines through.
YAY! I love them. Thank you for these, momma. And for your words, and everything behind them. Love you so much.
Wow! She is stunning! You must be so proud of her wonderful accomplishments and the lovely person she is, inside and out.
Stunner! Annie girl, you are so classy 🙂
These are gorgeous. Good job mommy 🙂
Absolutely GORGEOUS! How does all that beauty and poise and silliness and intellect and integrity and tenderness fit inside such a little bitty package? Congrats, Annie. (And congrats to the Momma that raised her.) 😉
WOW! What beautiful pictures of my sweet Annie. Yes, it is unbelievable that she is graduating from college. I don’t know where the years have gone. I still have images in my mind of her in the video of a Christmas years ago with her in a little nightgown. Somehow those images don’t match the picture of a stunning woman in a red dress and with red lips waiting for someone to kiss her. I am so proud of you, Annie. You are going to be a force to be reckoned with. You have what it takes to be successful in any area that you decide to be. My granddaughter!
Wow! How beautiful you are, our Annie. We are SO proud of you. It is hard to believe you are graduating, but I know you have made this happen (with God’s help). You have always applied yourself and worked hard to be the best. I think you are just that – the best. I am excited to see what plans God has for your life, You are awesome and whatever it is I know you will do well, We love you much.
I always knew the little girl who was stuck in the tree outside my window would be so stunning (even on the ground!). She was really beautiful the day it started to rain and I sent her across the street with an umbrella made from an elephant ear plant too! I can’t believe our children are men and women now! I miss all of you so much!
Such a wonderful time for Annie. She is beautiful just like her mother. Congatulations!
I love Annie. I love you. These made my heart take a deep sigh of gratefulness and pride. So beautiful! Special, special girl. (and if people only knew what’s really behind the sophisticated red dress and heels (late night dance parties, awwww junk!)
Congratulations to Annie and the Morgan family!
Such great pics Mary Anne…Annie looks stunning! Love you guys
MaryAnne…..these pictures of Annie are amazing! She has grown up to be a gorgeous woman……not only on the outside but also on the inside. She has always amazed me by her words she chose to say and how old she acted. She has also amazed me by her talents God has given her. It is exciting to see where God is going to take her in her journey of life. You have done an excellent job as a mother. There is still more wonderful times ahead of your motherhood. Love you sis!
Thanks for the joy and tears! Mary Anne…she is so beautiful…just like you! Ya done GREAT, mama! BTW, what happened to her sweet freckles? :o)
Oh my goodness, Mary Anne! You must be so proud! My two girls are still so little–still in elementary school–and still so tightly in my arms. One came to me just a few moments ago with big tears and a skinned knee after falling from her bike. I’m still in the cuddles/bedtime stories/vacation bible school years and I’m soaking it all up! I know that momma-dream of which you speak–the dream for their future. Well done to you, and your husband, for the amazing job you have done. I think about that day ahead for me when mine are ready to fly away from the nest—oh, what bravery is required of us mothers! Congratulations to you all.
