We had such a beautiful day for Annie to run the Half Marathon this year on Thanksgiving Day. This was her second year running, but my first time going. Chris came alone last year to support her, while the rest of us slept in and got ready for Thanksgiving dinner. However, the whole family decided to make the 7 a.m. trek this year to see our Annie run. I am so glad we did. We didn’t see her pass us though, although we were scanning the crowd with laser sharp intensity. All of us missed her. I couldn’t believe it. When 1:50 approached I knew she would be close. Her time was 1:56 last year. My heart began to beat faster and I had my camera at the ready. When last year’s time came and went, my heart sank. I began to wonder if she was injured. I knew she would be disappointed if she didn’t at least make last year’s record. After a few minutes, Chris’s phone rang, and she was down at the finish wondering where we were. She says she must have just been a blur to us due to such great speed. I don’t know. She did manage to get by four Morgans staring intently into the crowd of runners for at least an hour, and she ended up shaving six minutes off her previous time. So proud of my girl who just decided to become a runner the summer before she left for college. She is an inspiration to us all.
I am finding that as the years go by, I am falling more and more in love with my family. I love this little group my Father God has given me. I never thought I could love them more than I did when they were little. So thankful for them, and my husband who has become my best friend and soul mate for life.
Here are some photos of the beautiful day we had in Atlanta last week. Wish I could have captured Annie running! I did get some photos of some other runners digging deep, though.
Waiting for our girl…
With Beth, the best roommate ever!
Katie made her a medal. Can you guess which one it is?
Loved this shot of the scene there. Everyone there for the same purpose. Had a beauty of it’s own.
The Fabulous Three…

I love these! And the words. 🙂 Thank you so, so much for being there. My family is exceedingly, abundantly more wonderful than most. It meant a lot to me.
And correction: 6 minutes shaved off of last year’s time. But who’s counting? 😉
i too am very proud of Annie – she’s sweet and interesting and tough as nails.
I also love our family – we have fun together – their laughter is a gigantic blessing.
