Tonight we went out to see the eclipse of the moon. It was kind of sad to see the full moon partially in shadow.
Truthfully, we know that the moon has no light of its own but rather shines reflected light from the sun. During an eclipse, the earth gets in the way of the light of the sun, keeping it from its normal full light and color. I thought that was interesting when I was reading about this eclipse- how the shadow of the earth keeps the moon from reflecting the fullness of color it normally does.
Ahh, how the shadows can creep in.
The worries of this life can choke the light and freedom right out. In the shadowy places the color can drain away. But they are only shadows. Our truest and best light comes from a God who never leaves us or forsakes us. His love is a beacon of hope not only to us but to a world who is confused and cold in the shadows.
Hold on through the eclipse.
The only shadow that belongs to us comes from the frame of our Father. There we can rest.
Psalm 91:1 ~”Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Psalm 139:11,12 ~”If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”
