She sits across from me with her slender fingers wrapped around a coffee mug. Her new engagement ring is sparkling in the overhead light of the Egg Harbor Cafe. We stopped in here after one of a series of appointments we have had for her upcoming wedding. We are chatting about life and marriage and laughing about honeymoons that didn’t go as planned (mine). I am savoring every moment. I breathe and try to slow time by taking a picture of her lovely hands.
James Taylor wrote that “the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time.” I am finding this to be true as Annie journeys toward her wedding day. I don’t want to rush any of it. I want to stop in coffee shops and linger in laughter and storytelling. I want to adventure around the city to find all the things she needs for her wedding and her sweet little home she is putting together.
This is such a cherished time and I don’t want to miss a thing.
I know my mama would be so pleased.
I love you precious Annie Bird.

Psalm 126:2 ~”Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”
