Day 7 Comfort

January 7, 2016
Cup of Comfort

Cup of Comfort

(A note to myself. Maybe others will benefit from my process?)

As you are grieving…

Be kind to yourself. It’s okay if you don’t get anything done today. You are completely and utterly loved just as you are.

Rest. Drink a cup of tea and watch the steam dance and twirl. Breathe.

Spend time with people who love you and don’t expect you to do anything.

Take a walk if you can. God speaks through his world and he made the sunshine especially for you.

Read or listen to God’s word. His word is life for your weary heart.

Count God’s gifts in a personal journal or notebook. You will be surprised to see how much he loves you.

God is near and hasn’t forgotten you. His plans are perfect.

May you find comfort in the Lord today.

2 Corinthians 1:3,4 ~”Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

God bless you, Mary Anne. That is a truly loving, nurturing note to those who are grieving and who never allow themselves to just be – or to take a nap! The everlasting arms are there to hold and comfort you for the loss of your mother, are there for all those who grieve today.

      Lori,
My heart nearly stopped when I read your comment. I am deeply sorry for the loss of your sister. May the Lord comfort you and your family. My prayers are with you.

This is such a comfort to me today– 1/9– as I read through your first few days of your New Year’s posts. I have just discovered you, Mayanne. My husband has Alzheimer’s and each day is a dying of sorts. I am reminded by this post to show grace to myself as a caregiver. And that each dying is also a making room for a new living in our Lord’s loving embrace. Thank you for comforting from your own comfort you have received from God. And so beautifully. Now where is my Willowware tea cup?
