Day 6 The Red Boots

This is Janey and Winter- my Goldendoodle girls.

These beautiful red Hunter boots were on my birthday list that I secretly kept to share with my mom. I had put them on there last summer. They were an extravagance that only a birthday could merit. How my mama loved birthdays. She saved up all year so she could splurge on us on our special day. When my 50th birthday came this year, mom had only been gone three weeks. My heart was broken. Celebrating a birthday was the last thing on my mind and I forgot about the boots.

Several days before Christmas I remembered those red boots and told Annie how I had saved them on my list for Grandma Ann. She smiled a sad smile. I didn’t think anything else about them. Then on Christmas morning I giggled with delight when I saw the Hunter box with the bright red ribbon from Chris and Annie. I was so surprised!

Another bright spot in such a dreary season.

Every time I wear these boots I will remember how much I am loved.

I will wear them with joy and gladness.
