One of my favorite parts of doing a 365 Project is documenting the seemingly ordinary and realizing it was truly extraordinary. Like pearls sliding onto a delicate strand, the moments stack up next to one another and together they are a work of art.
Like the light. Oh the light. When else would I move from a sedentary place to get my camera and capture the light streaming through the window in the morning? A 365 gets me to my feet and says, “This. Hold onto this.” And so I do. It’s so much easier just to notice how lovely it is. But when I photograph it? It is like keeping the list of gifts that Ann Voskamp talks about, in her book One Thousand Gifts. It is life-changing. When I document a gift, I actually open it for myself again and again. And the best part? When it is a photograph, I get to share it with you too.
And so here it is – one of today’s many gifts: sunlight streaming through the windows and onto the steps. I didn’t miss it, Lord. Thank you. Thank you for the gift of light. Yes, thank you even for the dirty windows that let it in. Thank you for the light illuminating the steps that go up-up-up. The light beckons, “This is the way, walk in it”. Yes I will walk in your light, Father. There I find hope and freedom. In your light there is no fear of the darkness or punishment. In your light there is always more.
Best of all- when I am in the light, I am in you Father. There is no place I would rather be.
Thank you for another day.
Psalm 19:8 ~”The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.”

Mary Anne,
Love this! Especially the line, “When else would I move…?”
That resonates with me, as I also find myself moving to capture beauty and share it. I, too, love light. The early morning light is one of my favorite beauties, especially during the Minnesota winters.
Thank you for finding and sharing this pearl today!
Annie
