The Box

I bought this old box a little while ago for a special purpose. We leave it on the dresser and put things in it that are just ours. We leave notes for each other in the box. There is no rhyme or reason to the leaving of notes, or the placing of pictures and other special items. It is just there for whenever our hearts have the whim to leave a surprise for each other. When one of us decides to, however, it is almost always immediately reciprocated. I often find myself looking in the box when I walk by, hoping something has been placed in there since the last time I looked. I love the anticipation.
It really is the little things, details like these, that make our relationship strong, and so sweet. I cannot stress enough the importance of habits like these, preferring one another, serving one another, taking time to love in a tangible way.
I told Katie the other day that a good marriage is like a beautiful sunset: just when you think you have seen the best part, it gets even more glorious. I look forward to the days to come.

I know I have stated that I love your photographs and that I find them so amazing. This morning I realized I love the comments attached as well. You make your images that much more special.
What a glorious idea! I’m still pretty much a newlywed (1.5 years so far), and hearing your love story, and all the thoughtful ways you and your husband keep that story going, makes my heart swell with happiness and excitement. Being married is an adventure I really cherish, and it’s wonderful to look forward to it continuing the rest of our married life.
You are so right. Derek and I have our own for us items as well. Thanks for the reminder of just how important they are.
