Canon 5D Mark ll, 100 2.8 macro, 2.8 aperture, 1/1000 shutter, 100 ISO
I caught a glimpse of color and luminance this morning as I walked out of the house to feed the horses. I saw it in my peripheral vision and immediately knew I had to get out there, in those woods. It had lightly snowed the night before, and a stunning mixture of ice, water and light was dripping from all the foliage. I knew I had to act to fast. The rising sun was doing it’s work and quickly drying up my photo opportunity. I grabbed my macro lens and headed to the part of the woods the sun had not yet reached and waited. The grass you see here is so unique. It seems to grab onto dew, rain or snow, and proudly display it like diamonds for as long as the sun will allow. It is my favorite foliage to photograph in times like this.
I love the prisms of light and color that seem to be cascading to the ground. It reminds me of what God’s mercy must look like at it falls on us, donning us with a fresh covering of blessing, refreshing our spirits. We all need new mercies, daily. The best part is, they are ours for the taking. We can only live one day at a time, and when that day is done, we need fresh grace and mercy for the next day. Like the sun I was trying to outrun, the wearing on of the day tends to dry up today’s portion. But, there are new ones every morning. Let them fall on you today from the hands of the Father. How He loves you.
Color, light, refreshment, peace, beauty, glory, joy. Mercy. May they be yours today.
Lamenatations 3:22-23~ “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”
Psalm 143:8~ “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.”

Mary Anne, this is beautiful, both the photograph and the words. I needed to hear those words today. Love you.
You make me so proud – both for your photography and for your words of wisdom!
[…] Take it one step at a time. You do not have to finish the entire goal on today’s provision. He will give you what you need for each step of the way. I cannot count the times I found fresh manna and new mercies every day. […]
