Scarlett had her Rhett (or was it Ashley she loved?), Elizabeth pined for Mr. Darcy, and an even real life Pioneer Woman has her ever-mysterious Marlboro Man. Me? I have my Carolina Boy.
He swept me off my red-skippied feet over 24 years ago. With those blue eyes so peaceful and dreamy, he had me from “Hey”. (That’s how they say hello in North Carolina). I was hooked. It was a love story in the making.
I am grateful to share life with him, a man of character. A man who lives what he believes.
A man who makes me laugh, and who loves deeply. Loyal, almost to a fault.
A man who keeps me grounded, when I feel like I am going to fly away. He is steady and faithful. And handsome. Don’t forget handsome.
Did I mention handsome? He’s my Carolina Boy and I am his Virginia Skippy Girl.
Keeping him.

Yes, he IS very handsome. But, your words, feelings and love for him make him even more wonderful than, I’m sure, he already is. What a gift you two have in one another! I am always telling Matthew ‘Chris & Mary Anne’ tales (ie: new blog updates)!
Aww, thank you, Christy!:) I love to talk about my man. Coffee with you soon?
Knowing him in the slight way that I do, I can say wholeheartedly that I wish I was more like him… And knowing that he models himself after our Savior, Jesus Christ, I guess I just want to model that “Carolina Boy’s” walk with the Lord…
Mary Anne, your blog just makes me smile! Love your post today about your one and only!

I fell in love with a Carolina Boy too. In college, I brought him home to meet my mother and he called her “Ma’am.” He would mow her lawn or move furniture, or whatever she needed. Always the gentleman to me as well. My mother is gone now, but my Carolina Boy and I are celebrating 12 yrs of marriage this November. I really enjoy your stories about your husband. Keep ’em coming!
[…] I don’t know how he does it, but he helps me find courage I didn’t know I had. Maybe he just lends me his. When I am afraid to do something, my husband is often the one standing behind me saying ” Go ahead, you can do this. Go do it!” Today was not any different. He knew I wanted to get into that field. With his hand in mine, the gate that looked so fierce and opposing yesterday, somehow shrunk down in size and power today. ” Over here!” he called to me as he led the way to a place in the fence we could climb over. My hesitant heart relaxed as he helped me over the once invincible barrier. We were in! We were in. All along, I just wanted him with me, to share in the adventure, to be part of the brightest and best moments of my life. He is my husband, and my very best friend. He knows what is important to me, and helps me find ways to make those things happen. I love that man. That Carolina boy. […]
