Canon 5D Mark ll 70-200 2.8L, 7.1 aperture, 1/200 shutter, 200 ISO, Alien B800 to her left in a strip bank feathered off to the front of her at 1/2 power, Alien B800 behind her using a 30 degree grid at 1/32 power.
I have been wanting to try this shot for a couple weeks, but it has been too cold outside to coax Annie into it. Today it nearly reached 100 degrees so she finally agreed. We shot it after dark in the yard. I am mimicking a shot I saw in Zack Arias’s One Light Field Guide. I love the idea of capturing water and light together like this. It was a lot of fun. We played Brooke Fraser’s song Something in the Water as we began the shoot. It seemed appropriate, not to mention Brooke is one of Annie’s favorite singer/songwriters.
This is so much fun for me, capturing things that I see in my head. I so appreciate Annie’s willingness to play along.
Here are a few more from our experimental session.
