Project 365 Day 117: From Down Here

By In 365 Project 2011
Among the Buttercups

Canon 5D Mark ll, 16-35 2.8L, 4.5 aperture, 1/1250 shutter, 100 ISO

So much can be gained from changing my perspective. From down here, with Buttercup blossoms crowding round my face, I can see the full palette in one scene. Cheerful yellows cast brilliant profiles against the azure blue and wispy-whites of the skies. Horses graze peacefully in the not-so-far distance. I can hear the grass whistling in their teeth as they pull and chomp, pull and chomp. A familiar and comforting sound. The earth is warm and I feel connected to my childhood. I have spent many hours sitting in the dirt, taking it all in.

From down here I can get things straight again. The flowers and I, we worship. Once I find worship, I find myself, my place. All is right and beautiful.

I love how Ann Voskamp puts it in her book One Thousand Gifts. ” To receive God’s gifts, to live exalted and joy-filled, isn’t a function of straining higher, harder, doing more, carrying long the burdens of the super-Pharisees or ultra-saints. Receiving God’s gifts is a gentle, simple movement of stooping lower.”

Just sit among the Buttercups. They know. He is God and He is good, and He has given you everything.

Psalm 16:11 ~ “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

I love this. Your perspectives always make me think – and so often leads me to worship. Thanks.

Love the reminder of how important perspective is…He is worthy of my worship no matter what the day holds.
