“I was flipping through old photographs
Dusting off dead dreams. Funny how it seems
I’m always wanting more.
Wouldn’t it be crazy or would it just be sad,
If everything I’m wanting I already have?”
~Sherri Youngward, Back to the Beginning
These lyrics from Sherri Youngward’s song Back to the Beginning came to mind today as I ventured into the world of shopping for Christmas. As my heart drifted into the sleep of “getting more” I longed for a way to get back to what I know to be true. I will not find what I am seeking in another gift or thing.
Only God can fill me, and gratitude helps to repair the holes in my soul that ache in the pursuit of more. So as the tide of the season tugs at your legs and feet this week, I pray you can find your footing, your peace, in gratitude. I encourage you (and myself) to thank the Giver of all good gifts for the treasures that are right under your nose. He is good and He is God.
He is with us.
Here a few photos I found on my Instagram that I took this week with my phone. They are imperfect and grainy, but sure reminders of how very rich I am.
So rich.
Isaiah 55:2 ~”Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.”
James 1:17 ~”Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

yes! its all perspective isnt it. My daughter just txted me. ” One of the girls from my group just posted about being thankful shes able to put a dwn pmt on an apt this week after surviving 5 months in a shelter. She thanked us for the support.Makes me glad I could go home” Her group is made of spouses whos other half has come out of the closet. Its been a nightmare, but we continually grab hold of each thought and hold it captive. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
