365 Project Day 218: Standing in the Song

Sunflower Song

I don’t know how he does it, but he helps me find courage I didn’t know I had. Maybe he just lends me his. When I am afraid to do something, my husband is often the one standing behind me saying ” Go ahead, you can do this. Go do it!”  Today was not any different. He knew I wanted to get into that field. With his hand in mine, the gate that looked so fierce and opposing yesterday, somehow shrank down in size and power today. “Over here!” he called, leading the way to a place in the fence we could climb over. My hesitant heart relaxed as he helped me over the once invincible barrier. We were in! We were in. All along, I just wanted him with me, to share in the adventure, to be part of the brightest and best moments of my life. He is my husband, and my very best friend. He knows what is important to me, and helps me find ways to make those things happen. I love that man. That Carolina boy.

The sunflowers did not disappoint. The congregation was in full song, their heads all leaning together, faces shining. I felt like a little girl walking between the rows, surrounded in sunshine. The bees were worshiping as well, the air resonating with their high pitched humming as they lit from flower to flower. Fortunately, they did not acknowledge my presence. It was like walking into a scene in a musical, and I had a part. All of it was already happening, and I entered stage right as the choreography continued.  As the sun bid her goodbye the music slowed, and the sunflowers began to lower their heads. Almost in unity, the flowers began to bow together. Whether in sadness or reverence, I could not tell. It was, however, beautiful to watch. The scene was coming to an end, at least for this day. I was so glad I was there for the finale. I loved standing in the middle of the song.

Psalm 65:8 ~ “The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.”

Bright Chorus

Bathed in Sunlight

It was a little bit like walking into a show.
It was fun to share that with you.
You described it perfectly and the images speak for themselves.
