365 Project Day 211: This is the Way

Let It Shine

Canon 5D  Mark ll, 7.1 aperture, 1/6 shutter, 800 ISO. Camera was set on a tripod.

There is something to be said for trying something just because it is intriguing and cool. I saw this and loved the idea. When I want to try things like this, Johnny Morgan is my best volunteer. He is always up for doing something involving fire or combustible material, brave man that he is. I love him for that.

If you want to learn how to make an image like this, I found this tutorial on the DIYPhotography site.

I love what these images portray: light shining out from someone, sparks flying out from the center of their being. It looks like the life of God shining into the darkness, illuminating every place it touches. The darkness cannot put it out. It is searing and brilliant as it makes a path into the night, leaving trails of hope for others to follow.

Beacon of Hope

I can only hope that my life is like that. I want to shine the light and love of God for others to see and follow. This world will choke and suffocate, hiding the lifelines its occupants need so desperately. The lines that are embedded in the very hands of God: grace, hope, forgiveness, love, redemption. A grip that says He will never let us go. A way home. I want to say, ” Come, go this way. This is the path of mercy. Come go with me, I know the way.”

John 1:3-5 ~ “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

This is the Way

Isaiah 30:21 ~ “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
