Lately I have just felt dry. All poured out. I find that I come to the end of myself quickly these days. I run out of physical and emotional strength more easily. I am sure it is the nature of this project, having to do something new every day. I am not in any way complaining, however. I feel I have grown tremendously in the last seven months, not only as a photographer and writer, but also in my ability to complete a task. I think I have gained some gumption in my life. Everyone needs more of that. Also, coming to the end of myself helps me to surrender to God more readily and more often. When I am tired, or even before I get there, I need to allow God to fill me. I know that in myself I have nothing of any real value to share. It is God in me that brings life to the work of my hands, and to my spirit. So, that means being still, reading His word, pouring out my heart to Him, and listening for His. It means worship, ceasing to strive, and letting God restore and revive me. It is He alone who can speak value into me. It is in those places that I realize again that the very person whose opinion of me matters the most, loves me the most. He made me just like I am and has plans just for me, if I will stop and listen for awhile.
That is a refreshing thought.
I pray you also find refreshment today from the One who knows you best and loves you the most.
Oh, and since we are talking about gumption, I have to share this video from my church today. It is a series on gumption and this is the promo video. Click here to laugh and be refreshed.
Psalm 23:1-3 ~ “The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”
