Glory Displayed

Clouds, when mixed with sunlight and blue sky, remind me of the majesty and glory of God. Today, they  gathered up tightly, then moved swiftly across the azure blue sky, casting shadows over the earth as they flew. Light shifted and changed before my eyes as they morphed from one shape to another. Curling up tightly into fists, then unfurling into sweeping wisps that caressed the horizon. I felt as though I was watching God dance, and breathe.

Wisps Across the Blue

I think God is fond of clouds too.

He chose to lead His people out of captivity using a cloud to represent His comforting and powerful strength for them.  Numbers 14:14 ~ “They have already heard that you, LORD, are with these people and that you, LORD, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.”

He moves in them. Psalm 104: 3 ~” He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.”

Summer Sky

He uses them to refresh us, and heal us.To satisfy our deepest thirst. Isaiah 45:8 ~ “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the LORD, have created it.”

Mystery

And best of all, His Son is returning to us on them.

Luke 21:27 ~ “At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”

It is no wonder I love the clouds.

Mary, the pictures are marvelous, but your words along with God’s are so inspiring. You really have a wonderful gift of being able express yourself in a way that brings others to heights that they would have not been able to reach on their own. It is great that you are willing to share this gift to others including me. Thank you!
